My Fall Non-Mantel... Is that even how it's spelled?

I don't have a fireplace, let alone a mantel. I don't even know if I'm spelling mantel correctly.

Mantle?
Mantel?
No clue. Google's not helping either.

But it is Fall and we did have a Cinderella party this weekend with pumpkin decor and Fall colored flowers.

Thus, now that the festivities are pau (finished), these items would look great on my mantel. Only I don't have one. So here I've arranged them on my non-mantel, a.k.a. The Dining Table.

So enjoy my Festive Fall Non-Mantel Decor, inspired by mainland mantels all over blog land. After all, we are in Hawaii. We might as well call it my Non-Fall Non-Mantel Decor.

Vase - Ikea
Pumpkins - Safeway ($.69 each)
Placemat - Urban Outfitters
Flowers - Safeway (they dye the water!)

My Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread post was featured over at Embracing Change's Creative Inspiration Linky Party #33! Click here to see the feature.

Even though I now have a few of these features under my belt, I still get a giddy, surprised feeling in my tummy when I discover the news. Who would have thought blogging would be so fun!

Thanks Stacey!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

I'm no Martha Stewart in the kitchen.
But I do think I hit jackpot with the Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread I made last week.
I left Ivy alone for 30 seconds while I took out the trash, and I came back in to her devouring the bread like a wild animal. No joke. So glad I took the photos before this happened.

So after going over a few recipes, and examining what I had, here's what I came up with:

Preheat oven to 350 F.
Grease and Flour a loaf pan.
Gather these ingredients:
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (not the pumpkin pie puree, just the plain one)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips... (maybe I squeezed a little more than that in there...)

Mix the ingredients together in a bowl. (Wet together, dry together, combine!)
Add chocolate chips last.
Fill your pan.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Once a knife can be stuck in, then pulled out clean, it's done baking.
Let it cool for 10 minutes.
Take it out of the pan.
I like to put it onto a decorative plate. Just cause.

There is also a glaze that can go on top after baking, which I used:

  • Almond Milk
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Lemon Juice
You start with the sugar, then add the other two ingredients until it's the consistency you like.

My husband doesn't even like pumpkin stuff (gasp!), and he ate a piece and said it was good.

So give it a try! What's Fall without Pumpkin recipes?
Or prize winning pumpkins?
Or sticking your legs up on prize winning pumpkins?

ALOHA Friday Link Party #7

Welcome to Jed & Ivy's ALOHA Friday Link Party #7!
I'm a day late, I know :(
My daughter turned 3 yesterday.
I spent the entire week with 25 young dancers.
I'm throwing Ivy a Cinderella party tomorrow.

I'm allowing my party to go up late.

Thanks to everyone who linked up last week! We hit exactly 15 posts (mostly, thanks to Ilda of I Love Doing All Things Crafty, who was the last to link up and threw in a few extra posts to hit the goal! Thanks, Ilda!) And good thing she did, because she linked up the coolest project: An Explosion Box. I've never seen one before, have you?

I also LOVE this dresser re-do by Courtney at Apprentice Extrovert:

I specifically asked her to link up to my party, because I was just crazy about this piece! This green is my absolute favorite color to use/decorate with/paint with. Aren't her pink wall stripes cute? Thanks for being so kind and linking up, Courtney!

Note to you all... I LOVE furniture projects... :)
