Card Catalog Round up at Rink Gallery

Who doesn't love a card catalog?! I've got one in my house, and we absolutely love it! (Click here to see it). When we were in Oklahoma over Thanksgiving, my brother took us to this place called Rink Gallery. Rows and rows of antiques and plenty of antique furniture to fawn over, including card catalogs! Here's a few of my favorites. :)

This one's made out of metal. Pretty much something you'd see in a school office.

Basically a distressed side table with card catalog pulls.

No coverage catalog. More like glorified cubby holes.

This one is all wood, and those knobs are something else.

Love this aqua antique clock. Get in my house, now. But I don't need the fake Ivy. I've got plenty of real Ivy in my life. 

The blue on this old cash register might just be the best color ever made.

And yes, they do have free hot dogs on Saturday-Sunday from 12:00pm-4:00pm, and we partook of them. :) If you are in Oklahoma, you should definitely check it out!

Home Tour - 1914 Bungalow

We had the chance to visit my brother and his wife in Oklahoma over Thanksgiving. They just bought their first home this year, and it was so fun to see what they had done with it. The house was built in 1914, but was recently remodeled, so they weren't dealing with gutting an older home and starting from scratch. The previous owners had really prepped the place well. 

Who doesn't love a ladder bookcase? Or a globe? Or a mid-century ottoman? Or a green velvet arm chair?

Let's zoom in on the upper right photo and gaze at that gorgeous avocado train case on the perfect industrial cart. 

And yes, that projector screen up above is vintage.

When my bro and sis-in-law were on sabbatical in Maui a few years ago, my sis-in-law started picking up furniture off craigslist, giving it a fresh paint/decor job, and reselling it. This hutch defines her style perfectly, down to the pyrex inside. She's kind of the one who got me into refurbishing furniture. I used to attempt it as a kid, (this one garage sale side table comes to mind, on which I spray painted green and pink flowers...not pretty). I had a lot of learning to do.

This piece is adorable. Radiator metal sheeting with kelly green. 

My sis-in-law is also the one who introduced me to bunting! It was not at all a "thing" in Hawaii (and still really isn't). I love it and give it as a gift for every baby shower and house-warming party! Here's her mini-bunting hanging in a vintage window! I love it because all the fabrics have a little memory attached to them, as to where and when she used them.

It wouldn't be Oklahoma without a little ode to the U.S. of A.

This little Christmas tree was in the room we stayed in, and when we were leaving I realized the "ornaments" were costume jewelry pieces. How clever! I'm also in love with that emerald glassware. There was more of it in the kitchen window (see below)

Isn't it gorgeous? The previous owners had it installed. 

The outside is just as cute. I love looking over the fence to the neighbors' house. It's very whimsical!

My brother said they had other plans for these chairs, but they ended up like this. Looks good to me!

When I asked him to give me a few words to describe their home style (btw- they both participate equally in the decorating), he called it a "doing-what-we-can-with-what-we-got" style. He then brainstormed the following descriptive words:

*repurposed

*upcycled

*thrifty

*semi-vintage

*semi-mod

*semi-antique

*cheap-chic

A Few of My Favorite Things... the ANTHROPOLOGIE edition

So I had the chance to go into an actual Anthropologie store for the first time in probably 9 years. The last time I was in one, I was right out of college, broke, and had no home of my own to put any of their products in. Flash forward to today, I peruse this store online constantly, waiting for something to go on sale that I can afford. My friend Becky sent me a gift card for my birthday, and I've been savoring it for just the right moment.  Well, last weekend, on my trip to Oklahoma, was that moment. And here are my favorite things I picked up:

This aqua kitchen timer is to-die for. It was only $12! I've been scoping out Macy's Martha Stewart aqua timers for a couple of years, but they have bad reviews. Bad news: I can't find the link to this Kikkerland one anywhere on anthropologie.com!

Gee, I wonder who the owl pen and ornament could be for? :)

I'm suddenly obsessed with Foxes. Interestingly enough, a fox's baby is called a 'kit'! 

These knobs were 20% off $2.95. They normally sell for like $14.00 a piece!!! Score!

Needless to say, my trip to Anthropologie was long awaited, and totally met my expectations. Big-ups to my hubby and brother for keeping the kids under wraps in that non-kid-friendly store. Not an easy task. Another shout-out to my other brother and sis-in-law for driving all 11 of us there, so I could shop.
