If you read my post about our DIY pallet headboard, you know that curtains are becoming an issue in our house, haha. Well, just prior to making the headboard, we got some new window treatments for our dining/living room. Correction: I bought 3 different sets of curtains/panels for our living room, because they were all on sale for just a few more hours, and I didn't want to miss out on the price, but knew I would Kit would want to see options before making a decision. Don't worry, I returned the other two... mostly
So here is what we ended up with:
They're Bamboo Panels from Pier One. The rods are from Lowes.
These are the curtains I wanted (dead serious). Also, from Pier 1. Kit nixed them immediately. I knew he would.
Here's a secret: I only returned 3 of the 4 panels I bought of this orange goodness. I kept one panel for myself... just cause.
I know the ones we settled on look great, are very adult, and will go with most decor. More importantly, they slide easily and keep the right amount of light in and out of the house.
Here's the curtains we had prior (on the right of the photo). I thought they were super cute, but we couldn't slide them open or closed. Most of the time they ended up thrown over the rod. Pardon the crazy photo of Ivy in my character shoes. I couldn't find any other photo of the curtains!
We chose to mount the curtains higher than the window (as is the decor trend right now) because they make the windows/room look bigger. We're super happy with this purchase. This is one project where my husband said, "You should probably blog about this." I love him.
Aloha,
Rebecca
Wow, they look great, I also hang all my curtains way above my window! Thanks for sharing on Super Sweet Saturday.

Thanks Stacey! Yes, I was surprised by/thankful for his encouragement!
DeleteI love the curtains. We are curtainless in several rooms so are on the hunt for curtains of our own. Isn't it nice to have a hubby that encourages blogging. Thanks for sharing on Tout It Tuesday! Hope to see you next week.
ReplyDeleteI've become super aware of curtains recently, haha... never was before, though I loved sewing valances and such.
DeleteBeautiful job on your curtains. Thank you so much for visiting and adding your idea to the Thanksgiving Treats and Fall Fun Linky Party. I’m one of your co-hosts from OneCreativeMommy.com. If you linked up from one of the other co-host sites, I hope you’ll stop by my site for a visit.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea it was a Fall Fun party this week! Oops, so sorry for not following the correct protocol and linking up my curtain post. Thank you for the kind words, Heidi! Heading over to your place!
DeleteYour new curtains and rods look great! I’m sure you were so happy to have finally been able to change them up. You know what else adds to how great they look? Clean windows! If the windows are really clean, light will be able to shine through them and brighten the room, or be filtered by your beautiful new curtains to give the room a different kind of lighting effect.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really good point, Rodney! Not only clean windows have a great lighting effect on their new curtains, but they also help lower energy costs. The cleaner the windows are, the more natural light will come in, decreasing the need to turn artificial lights on early in the day. Clean windows also help regulate the temperature inside the house, thereby lessening the need to turn on the heater or the air-conditioner on for a long period of time.
ReplyDeleteGood job on your window treatment, Rebecca. Your choice of curtains are brilliant and it pops some color to your wall. Months passed already, and I hope you used these curtains on your other windows.
